about
“Gordie and the Cruisers” is the 4th single from the upcoming 15-song LP from Detroit scene veterans TOUCH THE CLOUDS. Produced by Joe Philips, Erik Maluchnik, Adam Cox, and mastered at Third Man Mastering by Warren Defever.
“Gordie and the Cruisers” is an anthemic recollection of youthful freedom, painted with broad strokes and big colors, yet skewing an underlining truth. Exploring gauzy memory counterbalanced by stark reality, “Gordie and the Cruisers” reminds us that sometimes rosy retrospection activates a sense of declinism, and we need to be aware that the fantasy of sunny yesterday often omits the horizon’s dark clouds.
lyrics
are we going back to visit the past?
are we on that path to nowhere?
we know you've suffered,
so you take your time to answer
we were driving away as fast as we could
with a hand in the air like a sail, as sunlight set
speed was bending the trees at the edge of the road
young and on fire, yet lifeless
wanna go on setting a price on all the years spent coming up empty?
did you take some stupid advice and make it messy?
don't hold that forever
when you're feeling low, remember:
we were driving away as fast as we could
with a hand in the air like a sail, as sunlight set
speed was bending the trees at the edge of the road
young and on fire, yet lifeless

Touch the Clouds harness the heavy yet melodic vibes of
90's Alternative Rock, with a sound that’s as layered as space rock, but also as caustic and quick-cutting as post-hardcore.
